Christa Jepsen - Else Kathrine Adamsen

Else was the second-youngest of seven brothers and sisters, of which the oldest son died in France during world war one.
 
Else Kathrine Adamsen was born on Gabøl moor September 8, 1908. She went to German school the first five years as Southern Jutland was German until the reunion in 1920. She was ment to be confirmed in the spring 1922, but due to illness she was hospitalized in four months; hence, her confirmation tool place in the fall. In January 1923 her father past away.

Else was maid just after her confirmation, she began in Hjartbro and later on a farm in Langesø on Fuen. Each weekend she cycled 5 miles to the railway station. After she asked the administer of the station to put out her bicyle Sunday evening, she went by train to Vojens and later by bus to Gabøl and walked the last two miles home. Once, when the administer forgot to put out the bicycle she actually walked all the miles to the farm, as she was too shy to want to wake-up the administer.
 
She was in service on the army hostel in Sønderborg and other places. In 1933 she had laundry work on Gram hospital and stayed there until May 1st, 1937 whereupon she moved together with Marius in Kastrup.
