The ferry leaves on time for Iceland, where fewer tourists continue their journey. However, we say hello to some well-known faces and have got another cabin, which we share with two nice girls from Wiesbaden, Germany. It is Sabine and Claudia who are traveling together on “hike”. Sabine is clearly the originator of that project and as she also happens to have the best English language skills, she does most of the talking with us.
We do some duty-free shopping, eat supper and join the “Viking Club”. It’s not actually in full swing this evening. Most travelers are tired and are having a good rest before the journey continues on Iceland. The wind is rising and we need to balance the wave motion when we walk up and down the stairs. Before we go to bed, we do some foreign exchange and play some cool action games against each other in the vessels game hall.
Børge wants to be absolutely sure to avoid a line-up, so he rise-up early to the morning shower. After all, the ferry is arriving at 9 am. He does not wonder why he must wait as the cleaning personnel finishes their work in the bathroom. Much later, of course after having waked up all in the cabin, he realize that Iceland time is minus one hour of Faeroe Island time and minus two hour of Danish time (CET). Instead of being as fit as a fiddle at 6 am, Børge is first man in the shower at 5 am!
For the second time on this trip we are in really good time and are able to enjoy a nice breakfast and the beautiful entrance of the fjord to the port “Seyoisfjördur”. Suddenly, it occurs to us what a splendid idea and obvious choice it is to be sea borne when going to Iceland. This is the right way to encounter, enter and enjoy such a country. Just imagine that we sailors considered traveling by air.
