Claus: This was a day full of excitement, practical issues and tense. The last days I had been very busy at work, in order to be ready to leave for a full month. We packed our stuff into three backpacks, which meant that we would have to carry one of them in front. We though we were full packed now, but the trip would tell us different.
A bus and a train later, we made it to the airport. After check-inn we ate a late lunch and looked at the monitors to see when we was called out for boarding. Nothing happened on the monitor. After a while we got suspicious and walked to the gate. It turned out that we were the second last to board the plan and it was overbooked. The direct flight with Varig is also a connection to London. Lucky us, that our tickets was confirmed. We got two great seats!
The trip to London was easy, only one hour or so. We waited for cleaning and new passengers in approx. 1½ hours and left for Rio. We played around we the personal video monitors, ate and slept until we via Sao Paulo finally landed in Rio the next morning at 8 am. Our connection flight to Lima was leaving in 6 hours - we thought..
